Clinically Pressed

Website Redesign and Rebrand

Overview

This project originated as a school assignment where I approached Joel Luedke, my former preceptor in the athletic training program, to revamp their Clinically Pressed website, initially just a podcast. Coincidentally, they were in the process of transforming the podcast into a non-profit organization and seeking website updates on a limited budget. Following the completion of the school project, I remained with the board of directors, championing athletic training and continuing my UX/UI work. I developed and launched the website on Wordpress, continuously adding fresh content.

Project Testimonial

“Allison has changed the game for our non-profit, Clinically Pressed Co. We were fortunate enough to connect with Allison as we were looking to update our website. Allison showed what our site looked like and how it could be streamlined to be more user-friendly and help get our message out more effectively. Throughout the process, she was testing everything with live people to make sure we were getting the right items in the right places. She is open to listening to ideas, providing feedback, and figuring out how to make everything come to a reality. Couldn't recommend her enough and we're fortunate to be able to work with her.”

01 Stakeholder Interview

We interviewed Joel Luedke, a board of directors member for Clinically Pressed..

  • Addressed website goals.

  • Provided details on their progress towards achieving non-profit status.

  • Identified current demographics and crafted two prototype personas based on the discussion.

02 User Research

Survey

  • Gathered information to solidify demographic information

Five Second Test

  • Conducted using the current site to gather baseline insights regarding initial impressions at a glance.

Heuristic Evaluation

  • Performed to thoroughly asses the organization, functionality and UI design of the current site.

Competitor Analysis

  • Examined podcast pages and health/wellness websites to identify strengths, weaknesses and potential areas for improvement.

03 Usability Testing

Usability Testing

  • Instead of conducting user interviews, we opted to test the usability of the current site to gather feedback and insights.

  • Difficulties were encountered in locating a specific podcast and identifying the brand identity.

04 Ideation

Affinity Diagram

  • User insights gathered from the research were organized into categories.

Feature Prioritization Matrix

  • Conducted a brainstorming session to generate potential solutions addressing the issues uncovered through research.

  • Chose three specific features to focus on for further development and implementation.

Storyboard

  • Developed to visualize and depict the user journey of our target audience.

User Personas

  • Defined and solidified two primary user personas based on the identified demographics.

05 Information Architecture

Site Map

  • Designed a site map for the existing website and made revisions to showcase the updated information architecture.

Card Sorting

  • A total of 15 users participated in an open card sorting test, which aided in the development of the navigation system and filtering options for the podcast episodes.

06 Mid-Fidelity Prototype

A/B Testing

  • Prior to creating the complete prototype, we conducted a small A/B test comparing two different homepage designs.

Mid-Fidelity Prototype

  • Considering the limited time available, we engaged in a discussion and swiftly progressed to develop a mid-fidelity prototype as our foundation.

Main Iteration

  • Following the insights from usability testing, we incorporated a bottom navigation bar into the design.

07 High Fidelity Prototype

Style Guide

  • The new style guide and logo were fully integrated and implemented across the project. This was headed by Taylor Fedt.

Prototype

  • The high-fidelity version of the prototype has been developed on Wix, leveraging the platform used for the original site.

  • Additional information, including an about page and non-profit details, will be incorporated as soon as it becomes available.

08 Impact

Usability Testing

  • High-fidelity prototype was subjected to usability testing using the same tasks as those employed in the original site.

5 Second Test

  • We observed remarkable improvements in brand identity perception:

    • 60% increase in the ability to identify the company.

    •  17% increase in the ability to identify Clinically Pressed's purpose.

09 Conclusion

Conclusion:

  • The podcast lacked organization both on and off the website, presenting a significant challenge for users.

  • The project leaned more towards reinventing the site rather than a mere redesign.

  • The new website exhibits a remarkable improvement in user-friendliness.

  • The site is planned to go live upon the launch of the non-profit initiative.

Future Ideas:

  • Migrate the site to WordPress for increased flexibility and fewer limitations in design.

  • Implement a two-tiered navigation system for podcast episodes to enhance user browsing experience.

  • Integrate Non-Profit information as soon as it becomes available to keep users informed about the initiative.
