Winnebago
Internship - HMI and Mobile App Design
Overview
As an intern, I initially shadowed the Winnebago HMI and mobile app team, gradually becoming more actively involved in the design process. I also took charge of exploration for the dashboard and lighting features.
Project Testimonial
“Allison is such a professional and an energizing person to work with. I had the pleasure of working with her on Winnebago over her summer internship at OST and it was amazing having her on the project. Allison brought thoughtful exploration to any work she took on and is so excited to learn. She is also able to easily take feedback and is enthusiastic about exploring different idea. She’s a great person to work with and would fit great on any team!”

My Roles:
Engaged in daily design meetings to explore HMI and mobile design parity, brainstorm ideas for the best user experience, and discuss product requirements.
Conducted internal A/B testing for new dashboard features.
Performed exploration for dashboard design for start of production (SOP).
Adapted dashboard design for the beta model.
Undertook lighting feature exploration for SOP.
Discussed user stories and design deadlines.
Tools Used:
Figma
Microsoft Teams
Slack
01 Dashboard Exploration
Sketches:
I began with sketches to brainstorm and ideate individual dashboard features.
Adding UI:
Created low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the sketches on a dashboard screen.
As the direction became clearer, I incorporated UI patterns into the wireframes for a more refined design approach.
Iterations:
I presented my ideas to the Winnebago design team and iterated based on their feedback.
Scaling Back for Beta:
After sharing the exploration ideas, I refined the design to align with available features for the beta model.
Closer images cannot be provided as some features have not been released to the public at this time.
02 Lighting Exploration
Sketches:
Quick ideation was initiated using sketches.
Wireframes:
Ideas that resonated were recreated in Figma and presented to the design team.
